Most events will be taking place nearby. We’ll also be staying nearby too.
Travel, Venue & Accomodation
Travel
Edinburgh Waverley train station is on the East Coast and West Coast Mainline.
Lumo trains offer the cheapest deals and LNER trains tend to be the most reliable from London.
From central Edinburgh, you can get either a bus or taxi to the venue.
Portobello is served by 26, 44 and 124 buses. These all stop within walking distance of the venue. The 26 stops directly outside.
There is free on-street parking near the venue, but no parking at Portobello Town Hall itself.
Accommodation
Edinburgh has so many great places to stay - we recommend Leith if you are looking for a cheaper area in Edinburgh, or a nice local B&B in Portobello itself.
Portobello is the small sea-side suburb of Edinburgh, the venue is about 10 minutes walk from the beach. The town centre is about 20-25 minutes via public transport from Edinburgh.
Before the Wedding
Before the Ceilidh we will likely be hanging out on Portobello Beach with guests and family (we may even take an Autumn North Sea dip!)
You are welcome to join us ahead of the evening festivities, just let us know in your RSVP if you would like to be included in this portion of the day.
Any extra excuse to be with our friends and loved ones is welcome!
Venue
Situated on the main highstreet, Portobello Town Hall is a great community run venue.
There is disabled access into the venue, but the main entrance is not step-free.
There are accessible toilets on the ground floor and we will be setting up a quiet space upstairs, for those who might need a break from the main festivities.
Babies and tiny friends under 5 years old are welcome to celebrate with us (we especially love tiny friends in tartan!)
However, if you need babysitting services for older kids, or want to have a child-free evening we recommend the event nanny.
